Japan Launches Pharmaceutical Packaging Recycling Program
Tokyo, December 20, 2024 - The Japanese Ministry of the Environment and major pharmaceutical companies in Japan jointly launched a nationwide pharmaceutical packaging recycling program. The program requires pharmacies and hospitals to set up special recycling bins for pharmaceutical packaging, and the recycled packaging will be processed by professional enterprises to realize resource reuse.
The goal of the program is to achieve a recycling rate of 70% for pharmaceutical packaging by 2030. The Japanese government will provide subsidies to enterprises participating in the recycling program and strengthen publicity and education to improve public awareness of environmental protection.
