Riyadh, December 11, 2024 - The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) announced the update of pharmaceutical packaging standards for imported drugs, which will be officially implemented in July 2025. The new standards are fully aligned with the international norms of the World Health Organization (WHO), covering packaging materials, labeling, and storage requirements.

Imported drugs that fail to meet the new standards will not be allowed to enter the Saudi market. The SFDA will organize training courses for pharmaceutical import enterprises to help them understand and comply with the new standards, ensuring the smooth transition of the market.
