Zurich, December 10, 2024 - Swiss specialty chemical company Clariant announced the development of a new ultra-thin pharmaceutical packaging film. The thickness of the film is only 20 microns, which is 40% thinner than traditional pharmaceutical packaging films, but it still maintains excellent barrier performance against oxygen and water vapor.

The use of this film can significantly reduce the volume and weight of pharmaceutical packaging, lower transportation costs, and reduce plastic waste. The product has been tested by major pharmaceutical companies in Switzerland and will be put into mass production in the second quarter of 2025.
