France Bans Single-Use Plastic Pharmaceutical Packaging by 2030
Paris, December 9, 2024 - The French parliament passed a bill to ban the use of single-use plastic pharmaceutical packaging in France by 2030. France has thus become the first EU country to introduce a complete ban on single-use plastic pharmaceutical packaging, which is earlier than the EU's overall plan by 5 years.
The bill also sets phased goals: by 2027, the use of single-use plastic pharmaceutical packaging will be reduced by 50%, and by 2030, it will be completely banned. The French government will provide financial support to enterprises to develop alternative materials such as paper and biodegradable plastics.
