UK Launches Pharmaceutical Packaging Carbon Footprint Labeling System
London, December 8, 2024 - The UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs announced the launch of a carbon footprint labeling system for pharmaceutical packaging. Starting from 2026, all pharmaceutical packaging sold in the UK must be labeled with carbon footprint information, including carbon emissions during production, transportation and recycling.
The system aims to promote low-carbon development of the pharmaceutical packaging industry and help consumers make more environmentally friendly choices. The UK government will formulate detailed carbon footprint accounting standards and provide free testing services for small and medium-sized enterprises.
