Belgium Develops Child-Resistant Pharmaceutical Packaging
Brussels, December 4, 2024 - Belgian packaging enterprise UPM Raflatac developed a new type of child-resistant pharmaceutical packaging, which has passed the European child safety certification. The packaging uses a special double-lock design that is difficult for children under 5 years old to open, but easy for the elderly to use.
The packaging also has a tamper-evident function, which can clearly show whether the packaging has been opened. The product will be promoted in the European market in 2025, aiming to reduce the incidence of accidental drug ingestion by children, which currently affects about 10,000 children in Europe every year.
