Croatia Develops Marine Biodegradable Pharmaceutical Packaging
Zagreb, November 20, 2024 - Croatian marine research institute developed a new type of marine biodegradable pharmaceutical packaging made from seaweed extract. The packaging can be completely degraded in marine environment within 6 months, solving the problem of marine pollution caused by discarded pharmaceutical packaging.
The packaging has good barrier performance and can be used for the packaging of drugs transported by sea. It has passed the EU environmental certification and will be put into mass production in 2025, mainly for the pharmaceutical market in coastal countries.
