Tallinn, November 17, 2024 - Estonian blockchain company Guardtime developed a new type of pharmaceutical packaging with blockchain traceability function. Each packaging is assigned a unique blockchain code, which records the entire process of drug production, transportation, storage and sales, ensuring the authenticity and traceability of drugs.

The technology can effectively prevent the circulation of counterfeit drugs and improve the safety of drug use. It has been adopted by major Estonian pharmaceutical enterprises and will be promoted in the EU market in 2025.
